JAMES O. "Big Jim" "Chuck" PLYBON, 83 of Barboursville, husband of Barbara Dunkle Plybon, passed away Thursday, July 28, 2005, in St. Mary's Medical Center. Funeral services will be conducted 12:30 p.m. Saturday, July 30, 2005, at Chapman's Mortuary with Pastor Leo Gibson and Pastor Kim Stone officiating. Burial will be in Bowen Cemetery. He was born April 29, 1922, in Bowen W.Va., a son of the late James and Era Adkins Plybon. Also preceding him in death were two sisters, Edith Childers and Shirley Berry; two brothers, Cleo and Herbert Plybon; his first wife, Marjorie Bassett Plybon, and a son-in-law, Mark LaFontaine. Mr. Plybon graduated from Wayne High School, and attended Marshall College, where he played on the football team. He was a salesman for Gold-Kist Poultry and Braun Meat Company, and in later years served as Sheriff of Wayne County. He was also an auctioneer in West Virginia and Kentucky. He attended Buffalo Valley Baptist Church, was a very active member of the Wayne County Coon Hunters Club. He was a member of Buena Vista Lodge #60, Whites Creek, W.Va., whose members will conduct Masonic Graveside Rites, and was a member of Mohawk Lodge #11. Additional survivors include one daughter, Shirley LaFontaine of Crescent City, Fla.; a son and daughter-in-law, Charles and Carole Plybon of Kenova; one granddaughter, Kelsey Elizabeth Plybon also of Kenova; one sister, Sylvia Chapman of Barboursville and a very special adopted daughter, Judy Brown of Barboursville. Honorary pallbearers will be John Murphy and George Daniel Clark. Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday July 29, 2005, at Chapman's Mortuary. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Buffalo Valley Baptist Missionary Fund, 872 Buffalo Creek Road, Huntington WV 25704, or The Gideons Foundation.
