My Wolford Roots

Family History: It’s All Relative

Mermrial Photo From Winter 1977 Issue of WV Sheriff's Association publication.

My father died when I was very young, 9-years old.  We weren’t close to his family before his death and never became even familiar afterwards.

It has been a life-long yearning of mine to learn of the Wolford-clan.  Where did they come from?  Who were they?  Having to ties to find answers to any of these questions for me, I set out to find the answers myself.  It has taken much time and effort but I have finally reached a point where I have a fairly good idea as to the answer to  all those questions and more.

I have now documented six generations of my ancestors stemming back at least 174 years.  Merely a year ago I was at a brick wall with only two generations above myself.

I am currently still working on my Wolford-line but would like to share what I have documented to this point.

This photo was used for the memorial to my father in the WV Sherriff's Assoc. publication.  (Winter 1977)

I am in the process of adding to my lineage.  I have some new data that I’m analyzing and adding as time allows.  I’m trying to keep everything well documented but some of the older items are difficult to find records for.  That being said, I will be adding Calvin Wolford's parents and siblings soon.  The documentation I’ve gotten on it seems pretty reliable and will be included.

I have included a new Sources and Notes page with information on the generations preceding Calvin Wolford.  A new genealogy report including 1 new generation has been completed.  Another generation will be added when I complete the data entry for the information I have.

I also have new information on my great grandmother, Florida Hager Wolford, and her line.  That will also be included in the new report.  I hope to have it published by end of the week.
